Carlos Thomas Sotomayor

Carlos Sotomayor was born and raised in Mount Chumash, SA and attended school at a private Christian Academy in Vinewood Hills until the ninth grade. Mr. Sotomayor graduated from Vinewood Hills High School in 1978 in the top 5% of his graduating class. Carlos Sotomayor began his legal career in 1980 working at the Los Santos Municipal Court as an assistant to the Judge. In 1985, Carlos Sotomayor was elected to the bench in Los Santos County primarily focusing on criminal proceedings until 1995, when he switched his focus on civil proceedings. In 1995, Carlos Sotomayor was appointed by the Governor to serve on the Superior Court to hear appellate cases bought to the court. Carlos Sotomayor served on the Superior Court until 2011 when he resigned after receiving a positive diagnosis for lung cancer. After coming back from a full recovery in 2021, Carlos Sotomayor started his campaign for State Court Administrator, promoting a safe work environment for all employees and officers within the judicial branch, and protecting the citizens from unfair or unethical judges. 

In November of 2022, Carlos Sotomayor won the election for State Court Administrator and took the Oath of Office on January 20th, 2023. Carlos Sotomayor will remain in office until January 20th, 2028, where he has withdrawn from re-election.
